Obituary for Gary Schappaugh
Gary Lee Schappaugh, 66, passed away Oct. 5, 2011, after battling pancreatic cancer.
Gary was born Dec. 24, 1944, and spent his childhood in Pensacola, Fla., where he graduated from Escambia High School in 1962. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1968 and served as an officer in the United States Army. During his military career, he was stationed in Germany, Vietnam and Fort Hood. After his military career, Gary graduated from law school at Southern Methodist University in 1977. Gary maintained a successful law practice in Mesquite, servicing the Dallas and surrounding Metroplex area for 34 years, specializing in family law until his death.
Gary is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sons, Adam and Christopher; his brother, James Schappaugh of Valdosta, Ga.; his grandchildren, Kristen and Boaz; his first wife, Lynn; and his stepchildren, André Garza, Angela Tadlock, Amanda Garza and Ali Garza.
He will be missed by his family and his friends.
Services will be at Lakepointe Church (I-30 and Ridge Road ) in the chapel, Rockwall, on Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Obituary for Faye Blanchard Alford
 Mrs. Faye Alford, age 67 of DeFuniak Springs passed away at the family residence Thursday, September 29, 2011 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born March 30, 1944 in Pensacola, Florida the daughter of Leslie Roland and Mae Lilly Kelley Blanchard. After graduation from high school Faye graduated from Mississippi College in Jackson, Mississippi with a Social Behaviors Degree. She was a case worker for the Welfare Department, now known Children and Family Services. Faye was a member of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
Among survivors are her husband, Lamar Alford. Her daughters, Dr. Kelley Renton also of DeFuniak Springs and Catherine Alford of Pensacola. Her sister, Patricia Anderson of Fort Walton Beach and two granddaughters, Myra and Kyndal.
Memorials may be made in Faye Alford’s memory to Pregnancy Support Center or First Christian Academy , 216 East Live Oak Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida. A time of visitation will be from 10A.M. until 11A.M. Saturday, October 1, 2011 in First Baptist Church with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Bill Bricker and Dr. Bobby Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery.
Obituary for Gwendolyn R. "Butch" Barger Jones
Gwendolyn R. "Butch" Barger Jones, 67, was born March 31, 1944 and The Lord called Gwen home on Sunday, September 4, 2011.
She was a faithful and loving member of West Highland Baptist Church. Gwen was an original member of the Pensacola Camera Club and of the Pensacola Gem and Mineral Club. She had a love and talent for all crafts and loved to share and teach others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie of Graysville, TN and Hazel Shaver Barger of Dayton, TN.
Survivors include: her children, Sherri Jones of PA and Ronnie Jones, Jr. of Pensacola, FL.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at West Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Galbreath officiating.

Carol Dionne Hunter was born in Joliette,
Illinois on Aug. 4, 1944 and departed on Jun. 10, 2011 and resided
in Chesapeake, VA. Carol Dionne Hunter, 66, of the 500 block of
Flintlock Road, died Friday, June 10, 2011 in a local hospital.
She was a native of Joliette, Illinois and was the daughter of the
late Joseph and Bernice Richardson Dionne. Her husband Richard Mitchell
Hunter preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving sons;
Richard M. Hunter of Chesapeake and Larry J. Hunter and his wife
Carrie Elizabeth Todd Hunter of Truckee, CA, her sisters, Sharon
Crawley and Karen Looney both of Jackson, Tennessee, Dola Bivins
of Lancaster, South Carolina and Mary Dionne of Aiken, South Carolina,
her brother Jimmy Robinson of Morris Chapel, Tennessee. and four
grandchildren; Carolina West Hunter, Ava Scot Hunter, Joshua Jones
and Jacob Jones and many extended family members including Heath
Jones, Amy Jones and Bill and Kim Grimes and numerous nieces and
nephews. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at Chesapeake Memorial
Gardens on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10 am by the Reverend Chuck
Moseley. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society

Obituary for Kenneth Williams
Kenneth Reid Williams was born August 29, 1944 in Eufaula, AL and died January 12, 2011 in Pensacola, FL.
His parents, Carlyle Williams and Evelyn M. Williams, predeceased him.
He has been a resident of Pensacola for 55 years. He graduated from Escambia High School. He had an electrical engineering degree from Auburn University. Ken worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Louisiana for many years until an early medical retirement.
He lived on Pensacola Beach for many years and had sent the last 13 years with his family in Beulah. He was proud of his organic gardens.
He leaves behind a brother, Carlyle (Betty) Williams, of Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters, Gloria Williams and Linda Radford. He was very fond of his two nieces, Kelly Radford and Colleen Williams, and four nephews, Greg Prevatte, Ted Williams, Reid Radford and John Williams.
He loved Pensacola Beach so much, his wish is to have his ashes taken to the beach. His family will honor his wishes at a future date.

Whiting passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010. The great fisherman and outdoorsman was proceeded in death by his parents Jane Thames Andrews and Whiting Hargis Andrews Jr. along with his brother Robert (Bobby) Andrews. At the age of 65, Whiting had lived in the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area his entire life.
Whiting's career path took him in many different directions but his true love was educating others. After high school, Whiting joined the Army and spent time traveling throughout Germany. Whiting was a lifeguard at Pensacola Beach and also worked at McGovern's Ambulance Service while going to college. After completing a Masters Degree in Psychology, Whiting worked with the American Red Cross, State of Florida as the Director of Immunization, and most recently as the Director of Operations for the Escambia Bay Marine Institute.
Whiting's name is synonymous with the term fisherman to his friends and family. Whiting truly cherished every day spent on or around the water. Holding a Captain's License, Whiting was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish and hunt. Whiting also had a natural writing ability that led him to becoming an outdoor writer for several fishing magazines.
Survivors include the Taylor family including his wife, Frankie Taylor Andrews of Gulf Breeze; two daughters by marriage, Lindsey Rabren and Jennifer Rabren both of Gulf Breeze.
The Andrews family including his daughter, Monica Andrews Willis (Bill) of Pensacola; two brothers Thomas Andrews and John Andrews both of Pensacola.
Whiting is also survived by four grandchildren that he cherished dearly including Cole, Chana, Gaje, and Mila, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Anyone wishing to, should make a contribution to the Escambia County Council on Aging in Whiting's name.

Mr. Bill Van Every, age 64, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 27, 2009. He is survived by: his wife of forty-three years, Mrs. Dianne Barke Van Every, Lawrenceville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Van Every Tubbs and husband, Steve, Jasper, AL; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Gina Jeffers Van Every, Gainesville, GA; grandsons, Austin Van Every and Nathan Van Every; aunts, Mrs. Rheba Dean King, Lagrange, GA and Mrs. Linda Mims-Clark, Lagrange, GA; first cousin and their daughter, Greg and Anne Marie King and Meredith, all of Macon, GA. Mr. Van Every was born November 10, 1944 in Langdale, AL. He was a 1962 graduate of Escambia High School in Pensacola, FL and a 1966 graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. Mr. Van Every was a retired owner, consultant, engineer and developer from Champion Software Solutions. He worked on NASA Apollo Mission where he wrote and developed programs. He was a member of the Gwinnett Rotary Club for many years. Mr. Van Every was a member of Providence Church in Duluth, GA and was a former member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, GA where he was a Sunday school teacher of the Willis-Van Every Sunday School Class. Bill and Dianne were Christian Marriage Counselors for the past twelve years. Mr. Van Every loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking and biking. He loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed by all. He loved his Lord and his Word and is rejoicing with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Ty Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. Obituary for Ernest Taylor:
Ernest Jackson, "Jack" Taylor, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence, surrounded by loved ones.
Jack was born on September 25, 1944 to Ernest and Louise Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of Pensacola. He served in the United States Army and then continued to serve others as a devoted deputy sheriff for nearly 20 years. He married Linda Mondello in 1971 and had two daughters. It was then that his best work was done. He was the most loving, sincere and giving father imaginable. He loved his daughters and family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bosso and Maggie Wilson; father, Ernest Taylor, Sr. and brother, Stephen Taylor.
He is survived by his loving mother, Louise Taylor; daughters, Jackie Thompson and Brandi (Rico) Santiago; sisters, Ann (James) Pate, Linda (David) Knouse, Brenda Diane (Patrick) Maloney; grandchildren, Haley, Maloree, Trent, Raziel, Connor, Mauriel, Niko and Gabriel; many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He is also survived by his friend and mother of his children, Linda Taylor.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 100 Beverly Pkwy, with Pastor Gary Laird officiating.
Interment will follow in Clopton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.
Pallbearers will be David Knouse, Jr., Randy Knouse, Patrick Maloney, Jr., Christopher Maloney, Troy Pate and Rico Santiago.

Obituary for David Larcom.
David (Larcom) Appleson, age 62, of Pensacola died Tuesday, August 7, 2007.
David was born in Memphis, TN, but resided in Pensacola through his young childhood and adult life.
He graduated from Escambia High School. On September 28, 1962 David joined the U. S. Marine Corps and was later promoted to Sergeant. He honorably served his country and was discharged from the Marines on July 29, 1968. After his discharge, he went to work for Monsanto (Solutia) and retired in 1999. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed rebuilding older model cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Holly Larcom and Mary (Larcom) Frost, and brother, Ronald Appleson.
Survivors include: his sisters, Diane Jolly of Cantonment, Janice Hollis Palmer of Pensacola, and Gayle Cook of Brewton, AL; brother, Ronnie Larcom of Boston, MA and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS, Pensacola with the Reverend Dale Patterson Officiating.

Obituary for David White.
David passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the age of 62, after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer.
Born on August 2, 1944 in Pensacola, FL, David became passionate about the environment, birds, and habitat conservation at an early age. He earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology at Southern California Edison. After starting his firm, Applied Cultural Dynamics, in Santa Fe, David completed several ethnographic studies for the National Park Service. Throughout his career, his work was dedicated to Native American issues and cultural preservation.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Guyette and her son, Austin Spafford; his brother, Rick White, and his mother, Marcella White.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Randolph Carew White; his father, Marvin H. White; and his aunt, Agnes Reedy Mayne.
David's passion for the environment was central to his life. Throughout his cancer treatment, David wrote prolifically on birding and habitat conservation topics. He served as Vice President of the Sangre de Cristo Chapter (Santa Fe) of Audubon New Mexico and as a board member of the Los Angeles Audubon Chapter.
A memorial service will be held at the Randall Davey Audubon Center (upper Canyon Road, Santa Fe, NM) on August 15, 2007, from 3 to 5 p.m.
